Working Unit ID (WUID)
Glossary
In Inter-WACN Roaming-enabled Trunking Systems, when a roaming radio lands on a foreign control channel (in other words, one outside of its Home System), the radio will attempt to register and authenticate using its full Subscriber Unit ID (SUID). In a successful registration response, the system assigns the radio a unique abbreviated (24-bit) address known as the Working Unit ID (WUID). While the radio is within the domain of the registration area, the WUID will normally be used in place of its SUID, and the radio will be able to respond to messages that are addressed to its WUID, and initiate messages using its WUID for that registration area. See also Working Group ID.
